Welcome to xFin! Your privacy is critically important to us. This Privacy Policy outlines what information we collect, how it is used, and how it is protected when you use the xFin application (“App”).

By using xFin, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

1. Local Data Storage First

xFin is currently built with a strictly “local-first” offline database. All of your financial data, preferences, and scanned receipts reside entirely on your device. We prioritize your privacy by ensuring your data is not automatically transmitted to, or stored on, any external servers.

We plan to release an optional Cloud Sync and Account Sign-In feature in future updates. Until then, your data remains 100% local, and we recommend utilizing our local backup tools to prevent accidental data loss.

2. Information We Collect

A. Information You Provide Directly

• Financial Data: To provide our core services, you input financial data, including transaction details, account balances, budgets, wallet names, categorizations, and debt tracking records with friends.
• Preferences: Settings such as your default currency, country, and user interface preferences.

B. Information Collected Automatically

• App Notifications (Auto-Capture): If you enable the “Auto-Capture” feature, the App locally reads incoming notifications on your device (e.g., from e-wallet and banking apps) to automatically extract transaction details. We do not read notifications that are unrelated to financial tracking.
• Camera and Images (OCR Scanning): If you use the receipt scanning feature, the App accesses your device’s camera or photo library. The text recognition (OCR) is strictly processed directly on your device.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the locally-stored information solely for the following purpose:

• Core Functionality: To provide personal finance management tools, including budgeting, transaction tracking, cross-wallet management, and split bills/debts functionality entirely within your environment.

4. Third-Party Services and Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal identification information to others. For the local-only version of xFin, your data is processed entirely on your device without the active use of external cloud infrastructure or authentication providers, nor is the machine learning text recognition information sent to external parties.

5. Your Data Control and Deletion Rights

You have full control over your data within xFin:

• Local Data Management: You have complete control to export your data locally or restore from local backup files securely.
• Data Deletion: You can delete your financial data directly within the app or automatically destroy all information by uninstalling the application entirely from your device.

6. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy within the App and updating the “Last Updated” date at the top of this document. We advise you to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
